“Run 4 The Cause,” a 5K Fun Run & Walk to support Christy’s Cause will take place on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 22100 S. Tamiami Trail, Estero, FL 33928. Christy’s Cause is a local non-profit working to eradicate child sex trafficking through education, public awareness, restoration projects, and justice initiatives.
“Less than 1% of all sex trafficking victims are ever identified,” said Christy Ivie, founder of Christy’s Cause. “Human Trafficking ties second as the largest global enterprise with Florida ranking third in the nation for reported cases. We are fighting to make a difference in the lives of those who desperately need our help.”
The event will include a professionally-timed 5K Run and non-timed Walk. The run will begin at 7:30 a.m. and the walk will begin at 9 a.m. The fee to participate is $25.00 per person plus a $3.00 signup fee. The price increases to $30.00 Per person after February 16th. A $5.00 discount will apply to a second participant.
Placement awards will be given to the top boy & girl ages 6-12 years old, top male & female ages 13-17, top male & female ages 18-39, top male & female ages 40-54 and top 55+male & 55+female runners. Walkers will have a chance to win giveaways from local businesses. Registrants will receive a drawstring bag that includes a quality race t-shirt, bib, timing tag for runners and an event map.
