In the fall of 2014 Christy Ivie was in Cambodia working with hundreds of children living in extreme poverty. Although she was there teaching hygiene she began seeing a larger epidemic operating under the surface. She heard stories about families so desperate they were willing to sell their children to a stranger. She witnessed signs of children being sexually exploited in the tourist area of town. After observing the moral fiber of a community ripped apart by the sex industry she refused to return home the same. She knew she had to take a stand against sex trafficking both abroad and back home in her own community. Upon her return she began attending trainings such as the Attorney General’s Human Trafficking Summit and was shocked to discover that Florida ranks third in the nation in reported cases. She realized Human Trafficking isn’t just an international problem but it is everywhere, in every community.
Today Christy’s Cause is positioned to make a difference – to be freedom fighters for those who aren’t able to fight for themselves. We exist to eradicate child sex trafficking through education, public awareness, restoration projects, and justice initiatives.
To effectively understand issues concerning the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children, Christy’s Cause stays informed and educated by networking with law enforcement, state agencies, educators, health professionals, and service providers.
Together we can make a difference in the lives of those who desperately need our help. Join us today as we work to stop child sex trafficking.
